Cbn 99-15 50 Tev High-field Vlhc with a Low Field Injector

چکیده
The 50 TeV very large hadron colliders studied at the 1996 Snowmass workshop were taken to have an injection energy of 3 TeV. As the injection energy increases, the cost and complexity of the final injector increases, while that of the collider decreases. In this paper, we would like to consider the extreme case of a full energy injector. Presumably, this produces the maximum benefit, in terms of technical simplification and cost reduction, for the collider, at the cost of having to build a rather large injector. We consider the specific case of a 50 TeV high-field radiation-damped collider (12.5 T magnets), whose injector is a 50 TeV lowfield (2 T magnets) machine. We discuss the general advantages and disadvantages of this approach.

Beam Instabilities in Very Large Hadron Collider
The Very Large Hadron Collider (VLHC) is a superconducting proton-proton collider with approximately 100 TeV cm and approximately 10 s−1cm−2 luminosity [1]. Currently, beam dynamics in this future accelerator is the subject of intensive studies within the framework of the US-wide VLHC R&D program. This presentation summarizes recent developments in the field. Besides general discussion on relev...
متن کاملCommon Coil Magnet System for Vlhc
This paper introduces the common coil magnet system for the proposed very large hadron collider (VLHC) [1]. In this system, the high energy booster (HEB), the injector to VLHC, is integrated as the iron dominated low field aperture within the coldmass of the common coil magnet design introduced earlier [2]. This 4-in-1 magnet concept for a 2-in-1 machine should provide a major cost reduction in...

Blazars with redshifts z ≤ 0.1 are likely candidates for detection at energies in the range 300 GeV – 50 TeV withČerenkov telescopes and scintillator arrays. We present γ-ray flux predictions for a sample of 15 nearby flat-spectrum radio sources fitting the proton blazar model of Mannheim (1993a) to their observed broad-band spectral energy distributions. At high energies, we use fluxes or flux...
متن کاملCollective Effects and Impedances in the RLHC(s)
We estimate coupling impedances and collective instability thresholds for the highand low-field options for the 50 TeV on 50 TeV Really Large Hadron Colliders discussed at the 1996 Snowmass workshop. Because of the large circumference of these machines, transverse instabilities tend to be dominant. The challenges for the high-field machine are similar in kind and magnitude to those faced by the...
متن کاملTeV resonances in top physics at the LHC
We consider the possibility of studying novel particles at the TeV scale with enhanced couplings to the top quark via top quark pair production at the LHC and VLHC. In particular we discuss the case of neutral scalar and vector resonances associated with a strongly interacting electroweak symmetry breaking sector. We constrain the couplings of these resonances by imposing appropriate partial wa...
